"The Online Privacy Alliance is an industry-wide group of leading internet companies, privacy advocates, and experts dedicated to protecting the privacy of Internet users. The mission of the Online Privacy Alliance is to promote responsible data practices that respect individual privacy rights, while enabling innovation and economic growth on the Internet.
The Online Privacy Alliance was formed in January 2013 by a group of leading Internet companies including AOL, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Twitter, and Yahoo!. The founding coalition also included several industry associations representing advertisers, publishers, and technology companies. Since its creation, a number of other major online platforms have joined OPA's Coalition for Consumer Empowerment (CCE), which works with policymakers to develop strong consumer protections for the digital economy."
